Day One in London

We've had a great first day in London.  We decided to take a walking tour rather than a bus tour and despite the on-and-off rain it was a very good decision.  Some of the highlights from the tour:

Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square
Admiralty Arch

Part of the changing of the guard at St. James Palace

Buckingham Palace

St. James's Park across from Buckingham Palace

Westminster Abbey

Big Ben

We ran into a protest against the Conservative government. Seems David Cameron is in a bit of trouble over the Panama Papers.

A monument to the battle of Britain

After the tour we stopped at a pub for lunch, followed by more walking.  Here's the highlights:

Viscount Montgomery

...followed by Sir Winston Churchill.

A view from the new pedestrian bridge.

The Eye. There was a huge lineup and we decided against it.

  1. Great pictures Maurice! It was just by chance I clicked on your previous log and lo and behold, there were these wonderful pictures. Glad you're both enjoying it, so much history there.
