First thing in the morning, after a nice breakfast at a restaurant close to our hotel, we set off to find the British Museum via the Tube. The Tube is very easy to navigate - we purchased prepaid cards that you use to access the trains.
The British Museum looks exactly as I've pictured it. Wood paneled rooms with hundreds of display cases showing everything from gifts given to Captain Cook on his travels to ancient Egyptian artifacts.
For me there were really 2 highlights. The Rosetta Stone is prominently displayed. The stone was used to translate hieroglyphics to Greek. Secondly the Elgin Marbles which were at one time past of the Parthenon in Athens. The Greek government would like them back but the British aren't about to hand them over.
